green manure in spring

I have recently taken on an allotment. I would like to cover sections with green manure could anyone say which is best for spring cover and any other tips on same.

Green manure NEW

I have planted a rye grass the last two years and it grows well and when turned under in the Spring, it stays under and doesn't try to grow again.
