I would go as far as to say NEVER grow anything near any tree let alone an oak. they also require nutrients and will rob any other smaller plants of whatever is on the menu.another very important ingredient any flower or in your case vegetable (not strictly true tomatoes are a fruit)needs is lots of sun, usually min. 6hrs.Try again Star and best of luck.
