Weeds - how to kill onion weed infestation

by Tony Harris

I have an onion weed infestation in my garden. I have sprayed round up on it and all the plants or leaves die off but every time I dig up the soil, they appear again.
I was told that I could plant some other plant as a companion and that it would kill it. I would be very greatful for a positive answer as I cannot see any choice but to dig out all the soil and replace it at the risk of re-infesting the soil. A never ending circle.

try this

I applaud those who suggest white vinegar sounds like a workable solution. Also if one uses a glysophate product it works better if a bit of vege oil is added to the mix. this helps the solution to stick to the leaf stems. Its also advisable to wait until the onion weed is actually flowering before spraying.Hope this helps, you have my sympathy with your problem but perseverance will win out.
Cheers bILL t. :)

If this works as you say I will be eternally grateful. I will replant the garden this weekend and if they do re-emerge I will be ready for them. Thanks again.
