Elephant Ears twisted

by Sandra Labitzke

My elephant ears started out growing fine this year then all of a sudden they went what I call corked screwed. What would cause that? I've found no problems with them above the soil. I've now dug them up & all I really notice are maybe the roots have been eaten on, probably grubs? Would that cause them to look corked screwed?

Twisting stems on plants NEW
by: Anonymous

In my many gardening years, I've found that chemicals are to blame for much angst. I believe you may have put too much or the wrong balance of some fertilizers or spray on your plants. Or you might have spray drift, like weedkiller from somewhere nearby. Mind you if you see bugs enjoying the roots, that's something to nip in the bud pronto too. Hope you sort out the problem and report back. :)
