Thin Parsnips but lots of leaves
by: Funnyface

I found I had to be patient with parsnips. They produce this wonderful bushy top and then I waited and waited and finally they fattened out and I got very nice parsnips.

Fatten up parsnips

Too much nitrogen. Did you plant them in a very rich soil, mostly compost or give them too much fertilizer? That will stop them making fat roots.

I'm so glad it's not just me that this is happening too, the leaves are approximately 10-12" tall and beautiful however below ground nothing at all... I shall wait and see what happens :-)
