Purple king beans- leaves burnt in the sun due to extreme heat.

by Rachel H

Hi all,

My purple beans were doing really well up until yesterday. We experienced extreme heat and wind, some of the leaves were scorched. The plant has not flowered but has grown to about two metres. Is there anything I can do to aid this plant? Will this affect its flowering?

I'd appreciate any advice

Purple King beans scorched

Without seeing how many leaves left, it's hard to predict if the plant will grow on and produce well. I've had beans with leaves mostly eaten off by slugs and they've recovered to flower and pod up. On the other hand some plants have given up when left partially leafless!. Who knows! Coddle your plants well and see what happens, and if it's obvious they are best put out of their misery, pull them up and plant more.
