This morning my Elephant Ears leaves appeared to be some insects dinner over night. What can I do to prevent this?

Stopping bugs from eating elephant ear leaves
by: Kansas City

Hi, We have a 2-month old elephant ear and noticed the leaves were being chewed on. We're guessing it's beetles or catepillars.

We got one of those travel spray bottles and filled it with mostly water and a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar (just enough to make the water slightly cloudy and a very light amber color)

At night, we gave the leaves 1 light spritz/mist on the top and bottom, then lightly on the stalks. the new leaves are growing in great (and no holes!)

Best to use Ivory Liquid and water in the southern states. Apple Cidar vinegar will kill the plant in our heat. :)

They are up but have already started being eaten.

I was told to mix a little coke in a spray bottle of water every few days and the bugs won't touch them

I will try to mist at night with vinegar water when it is cooler. I do have the apple vinegar but I would have to go buy the dish soap I use dawn dish liquid.

Killing Elephant Ear Plants NEW
by: Pam

I am hoping that regular white vinegar and dawn dish liquid will kill the plant. They are overgrown in the house I just moved into and I have two dogs!
